Terms of use

What you can expect from us, and what we ask of you.

These terms are short because the service is simple. By requesting an estimate or an audit, you agree to them.

Effective November 1, 2026. Applies to yubita.care and to the estimates, audits and emails we send you.

The short version

  • Yubita gives you a free, line-by-line estimate of what a scheduled procedure is likely to cost under your plan, or a free review of bills you have already received.
  • An estimate is an informed estimate, built from public price files. It is not a quote, a guarantee, or a promise about what you will owe.
  • Nothing we send is medical, legal, insurance or financial advice. The decisions are yours.
  • We are in beta. We take a limited number of requests, we may decline some, and the estimates are still being checked against real bills.
  • In return for an estimate, you agree that we may email you once after your procedure to ask what actually showed up on your bills.
  • Be honest with us, send us only documents you have the right to share, and don't use the service to harm anyone.

1. What Yubita is

Yubita, LLC ("Yubita", "we", "us") operates yubita.care. We provide two services to individuals:

  • Estimates. For a procedure you have not yet had, we tell you the separate bills you should expect, how likely each one is, and the typical cost of each under your plan, based on the price files hospitals and insurers are required to publish and on billing patterns reported to us by other patients.
  • Bill audits. For a procedure you have already had, we review the bills and explanations of benefits you send us, lay out every charge, check whether the amounts match what your plan agreed to, and suggest what to ask the billing office.

Both are delivered by email. Both are free to patients.

2. What Yubita is not

Not a quote. An estimate is our best reading of public data and prior patients' experience. Your actual costs depend on your deductible, coinsurance, copays and out-of-pocket maximum, on how your plan processes the claim, on which providers are in network on the day of service, and on what happens during care. We do not control any of those things. The amount you owe may be higher or lower than any estimate we give, and sometimes by a lot.

Not advice. We are not physicians, lawyers, insurance agents, financial advisors or licensed patient advocates. Nothing we send you is a recommendation to have, delay or decline care, to choose a particular provider, or to pay, dispute or not pay a bill. Confirm coverage, network status and prior authorization with your plan. Decisions about appeals, disputes and payment are yours, and we encourage you to get professional advice for anything with significant consequences.

Not for emergencies. Estimates are for scheduled care. We cannot help with emergency room bills, with bills already in collections, or with anything that requires an answer faster than email allows. If you need care urgently, get it; cost can be worked out afterward, and the law gives you protections in emergencies.

Not a provider or insurer. We have no relationship with your hospital, your doctors or your health plan, and we cannot change what they bill or what they pay.

3. The beta

Yubita is new, and we say so on every estimate. During the beta:

  • We accept a limited number of requests each month and may decline a request, or take longer than we would like, without giving a reason. If we decline, we will tell you.
  • Our pricing data covers some plans, facilities and regions in more depth than others. We will tell you plainly when we can price only part of your request, or none of it.
  • Our estimates are being checked against real bills as patients report back to us. Until that work is further along, treat every estimate as a well-reasoned starting point, not a settled number.
  • We may change, pause or end the service, or any part of it, at any time. If we end it, we will honor the deletion rights in our privacy policy.

4. The deal

When you request an estimate, you agree that about six weeks after your procedure we may email you once to ask which of the lines we predicted appeared on your actual bills. You can ignore that email, reply to it, or tell us not to send it; there is no penalty for any of those. What you tell us is handled under our privacy policy: identifying information is removed, and the rest is used to make future estimates more accurate. When you request an audit, your bills already answer that question, and you agree that the de-identified billing lines may be used the same way.

5. What we ask of you

  • Be 18 or older, or be the parent or legal guardian of the patient whose care you are asking about.
  • Be accurate. Tell us the procedure and plan as best you know them. An estimate built on the wrong plan is not useful to you or to anyone after you.
  • Send only what you may share. Upload bills and statements only for yourself or for someone whose care you are legally entitled to manage. Do not send us other people's medical or billing records.
  • Don't send what we don't need. Our form does not ask for your name, member ID or diagnosis. Please don't put them in the free-text fields. Documents you upload for an audit may contain them; we remove them, as our privacy policy describes.
  • Use it for its purpose. Don't use the service to scrape or resell our data, to interfere with the site, to send spam or abusive content, or for any unlawful purpose.
  • Follow your own plan's rules. Nothing we send changes what your plan requires of you, including prior authorization and network rules.

6. Our content

The estimates, reports, text and design on yubita.care belong to Yubita. The estimate or audit report we send you is yours to use for your own care decisions: save it, print it, share it with your family, your doctor or your plan. Please don't republish it as your own work or present it as a quote from a provider. Public price data belongs to no one, and we make no claim to it; what we claim is the work of assembling it.

7. Links and third parties

We may point you to other resources: your plan's own cost tool, a government page about your rights, a patient advocate. Those are other people's sites, and we are not responsible for them.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Yubita is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including about the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of any estimate or report, about the availability of the service, or about fitness for a particular purpose. Public price files contain errors and omissions that we do not control and may not detect. You rely on an estimate at your own judgment.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Yubita, its owner and anyone who works with us will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, time or opportunity, arising from your use of the service or your reliance on anything we send you, even if we have been told it was possible. Because the service is free, our total liability to you for any claim arising from it will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100). Some states do not allow some of these limits, so some may not apply to you.

10. Your responsibility for what you send

You are responsible for making sure you have the right to send us any document you upload, and you agree to cover any loss we suffer because you sent us records you were not entitled to share.

11. Ending things

You can stop using Yubita at any time, and you can ask us to delete your information at any time under our privacy policy. We can decline to serve anyone who breaks these terms or misuses the service.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If we ever have a dispute, we would like to hear from you first: email hello@yubita.care and we will try to work it out directly. If that fails, you agree that any legal action will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and that it will be brought individually, not as part of a class or representative action, to the extent the law allows.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top. For changes that matter to how we treat you, we will email anyone with an open request before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

14. Everything else

These terms and our privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and Yubita about the service. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't given it up.
